SEOUL - South Korean Marines (ROK) and the United States (U.S.) conducted joint exercises on the island Baeknyeong for the first time.
"This exercise is a Training Program Additional U.S. Marines in Korea which will be conducted on the island Baeknyeong," said U.S. Marines, as quoted by the Chosun, Thursday (14/07/2011).
Approximately 230 troops from U.S. Marines Division and 150 from the Korean Marines participated in the exercise. Exercise is also intended to respond to provocations that often waged against South Korea's North Korea.
North Korea's recent launching frequently taunts, threats of attack, and all sorts of provocation to discredit the South. Therefore, South Korea will always berwaspada any North Korean action. (RHS)
